Jamie Brittain, co-creator of Skins, confirmed this morning on Twitter than Skins series 5, if it is commissioned, and they will hold open auditions for a new cast.
To clarify. Skins will hopefully have a fifth series, but we have not yet been re-commissioned. It will have a new cast. We will hold open auditions to cast it. I don’t know any details beyond that. We’re still working on series 4!

I don’t blame the cast of this series.. the actors are all really talented (besides Katie), and the characters have a solid foundation, but the story lines were terribly constructed and disjointed. Hopefully season 4 with be better, because I did see potential in s3

yes i definitely agree, season three was a big disappointment compared to first two seasons. i think the characters were just a lot easier to identify. And like said, i dont blame the cast either, its just that some actors are simply more lovable and sympathetic than others. i really hope that season 4 will be better and i cant wait the whole new cast in season 5

why can’t jamie britain film skins with the remaing cast or series 3 and now series 5 i dont think that theres enough of skins tbf. i would quite like to see skins season 5 with the same cast but maybe add some new charcters to spoce things up a little.

I didn’t think series three was that bad… I kind liked it once I got used to it. At first I hated it and wished for the old cast to come back but overall it was really entertaining. I miss Tony though

im really not liking the new series because
1)they’re repeating storylines, like stalkers and family members that will obviously die
2)the characters aren’t as likable
3)i only like pandora and thomas and they’ve gone and messed up their characters
4)Effy was a much stronger character when she went to warehouses and got high on crack
5) i want to know what happened to the first cast!!!!
6)it’s not as cleverly done, i loved the episode where Tony had that trip in the nightclub
7) They will never be able to top an ending like Tony and Sid stealing Chris’ coffin and gatecrashing the funeral!
effy will still be in the cast as she has been in most of the show
i like skins series 3 cast, n will not be the same with new cast. PLS don’t change them. they r far too interesting.

I kind of agree with annnnn on some points.
First generation was pure brilliance. I honestly cried when Chris died, and when Tony had that accident. The first two seasons seemed to flow.
The thrid season though a bit more melodramatic had a touch of the ‘old’ Skins so yeah, but as far as Se 4 goes. Two episodes in and we already see someone dying, someone being stalked, two breakups, etc. It’s a tad too much melodrama if you ask me.
As far as removing the whole cast, I think the show would lose it’s continuity, but hey, it’s not my call to make, so I’m just gonna hope for the best (:

Tbh I’m glad i prefered the original cast If I’m honest they could of carried the story on through season 3&4 I just don’t think the writers could b bothered enough to think up of storylines abd tie them all together + this generation has missed a gd maxxie character which hopefully they’ll encorporate in season 5

You should come to Ireland and hold open auditons in the main cities, Dublin, Cork, and maybe Galway.There are many young, fresh actors/actresses here with no oppoturtunities here for them.They would bring an entirely different aspect to Skins.Cork is full of all the issues shown in skins and teenagers here are the ever growing ” problem” in society.Please think about it.I hope somebody from Skins actually reads this and I haven’t gone on for half a page for ages!Ha.

I think skins is the best!! I prefer the new cast but they have to bring a new set in otherwise it will all get too old. Cook is brilliant and so are naomi and Lily. Skins is about life slightly over exagerated but thats a good thing. It has something for eveybody.

It makes sence to recast them, seeing as the characters in this series will be leaving the college at the end, so a fresh batch of Year 12s will be introduced… I might audition this time, I’m old enough

I loved the first set fo characters and I love the second set too, not as much but im really interested to see how they make the connection to this season with the next cast, like they did with effy kinda.. also I wish they would somehow weave in what eventually happened to the first cast, its killing me that I dont know!!!!!
Well.. they have to change casts because its meant to be about college students and you’re only at college for 2 years lol. Maybe they could keep 1 or 2 on though because they could fail and have to repeat the year or something
the whole idea behind skins is not to have the same cast. it is based on a group of people doing their a-levels and the producers didnt want it to be about the characters but the the setting they are in. I think it was a good follow on having Effy as the sister of Tony and how she is growing up but it will be interesting to see the connection this time. it wouldn’t surprise me if there isn’t one lol
I agree the first 2 series were allot better, these later series haven’t had as many laughs, like Anwar in Russia! love that episode. Skins is still top though

And plus, most of them in series 3 and 4 were 16 when they auditioned, Kaya for example is only 17 now and she was 14 when she played Effy in series 1 and 2. So it’s all good ^^ Can’t wait for the auditions, i’m so syked !!!

There will never be a cast as good as the first, they were just the best. I have to say I’ve never really gotten to like this cast very much, near the end of series 3 I did, but it’s all messed up and confusing, and Freddie died and was the only one I really liked tbh. Hope the new cast is better, but I think they should have stuck with just 1 cast.
First off, lets stop moaning about them changing the cast. The series is based around the characters 2 years doing A levels in college. That’s it. The first set of characters all went off to difference univerisities, just like this bunch will (apart from Cook and Thomas obviously).
Absolutly gutted Pandora didn’t get her own episode this series!! Thomas’s episode should have been Panda-Pops!!! We love Panda!!
They have stole away so much from the whole sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll theme that was originally Skins!! There’s too many issues, they’re all so serious!! Spark a spliff and relax man!!
I’m not sure how they’re going to work Season 5 though. This group of characters branched off from the first lot through Effy, but I don’t see how they’re going to introduce the new ones, especially since tomorrow is the Seaon 4 finale and they’re yet to confirm season 5. So hope it’s not Freddie’s sister, boring bitch!!

I just can’t believe it ended the way it did, the last episode was crap, the last 5 minutes were okay, but the rest sucked ass.

Look back at series 1 and 2, we had the same cast, 3 and 4 the same cast, effectively I want the first generation of characters back but now I’ve bonded to the second generation, I think they should bring back the first and second generation characters to meet up once again in the near future, possible 2012/2013 (series 6/7), however I don’t want this TV show to end, I want it to go on like the Simpson up to 20 seasons or at least 100 episodes. For the next 2 series you’ll see another generation of characters and I’m sure you’ll bond with them by the 3rd episode. I think if we kept the same cast viewings would go down and it would be repetitive, the reason this show is so well watched is because of the constant change of characters every 2-3 series.
I hope to see more episodes, characters and series to come in the next 20 years
