Is there a Skins movie on the cards? It’s very early days, but Film4 are in ‘preliminary talks’ about a Skins movie, which basically means that nothing has been agreed and it may or may not happen. But, let’s speculate anyway…
We already have a Hollywood star in the form of Dev, and Skins is already 48 minutes long (without ad breaks); and that simply isn’t long enough, judging by your comments (which we take as THE LAW). We can think of four successful TV spin offs recently: The Simpsons, South Park, In the Loop (from the hilarious In the Thick of It, featuring Sid’s dad as foul mouthed Malcolm Tucker, FACT) and Sex and the City; but two of those have were cartoons. And Sex and the City was rubbish. Hmmm.
What could happen in Skins: the Movie? And who would it feature? Would/should it still be based in Bristol? A mixture of the old gang and the series 3 gang or should it have ‘Hollywood’ faces? If so, who? Scarlet Johansson as Naomi or is the diminutive Miss Lily Loveless the only gal for the job?

I would love a Skins movie tying up loose ends from season 2. Mainly, did Sid ever find Cassie? But also, whether Maxxie is making it as a dancer, how Jal is doing, whether or not Tony and Michelle moved on. It would be neat for the new cast to have cameos or something but they still have another season to tell their stories.

n the movie idea thats a definate yeah lifting off from series 2 ike what hapened 2 sid and cassie and how it left off from the rest of the cast, and i thing series 3 should take part in the movie and mingle with theseries 1 and 2 cast that would be fun mixing up the trouble both casts get into.
I reckon the movie should involve both character generations.
It should be set after S4 and could be a good tool to tie everything together. Basically it could be:
# Gen 1 characters – what they’re up to… life after college, etc.
#Gen 2 characters – The transistion from college to uni…. leaving friends/relationships behind or maybe not (and of course heaps of Naomily).
#Gen 3 characters – Use the movie as a quick introduction to new set of characters prelude to S5
All this said the movie would obviously have to revolve around Effy. She’d tie Gen 1 and 2 together but no too sure how you’d tie in Gen 3. Maybe via Keiron if he’s still shacking up with Naomi’s mum… maybe Eff fails and has to redo year 12 (sorry i’m from Australia and don’t know what last year of college in UK is called), maybe Thomas goes back to being janitor cos Pandora is pregnant and he needs money to provide? There’s too many possibilities but I defo hope the movie is a goer, Brian and Jamie can’t do any wrong in my eyes so i don’t see why it wouldn’t be a hit. I just hope E4 were saying this just to keep the skins hype alive…. surely not.

Yea, i agree with what people have already said. it should include all characters, mainly 1st generation to tie up the loose ends, i would still like to see the second generation but like Kristin siad, only as cameos. I think making a ovie including one big skins gang wouldnt be good at all. If it were set after S4 they could tie up all loose ends with all characters and use it to show everyones stories of what happened next serperately. [similar to a 'love actually' type format]. It is also the perfect oportunity for us to meet the new queen/king if the 3rd generation
Infact thinking about it, it would be the best wat of tieing the stories together. and have the caracters mingle without even knowing eachother or how they are connected. GO FOR IT E4, omg i cant stop thinking of things now ;]

As much as I would prefer to have a Skins movie that focuses on the first generation cast, it wouldn’t be the same without Chris – his character’s absence would definitely be noticed. On the other hand, I have no interest in watching the second generation in a feature length film either, as only a few of the characters are endearing to me. So, I guess I’m one of the few who doesn’t want a Skins movie whatsoever.

No way.. films are a good way to wrap up a series, but not to make for a series that is still on going. I feel that over-publicizing Skins would overwhelm audiences into having enough of it. 10 episodes is short, but it’s great to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. I mean, Sex and the City is a good example .. it was released after the series ended, but in essence .. it ruined the series. The original show ended so perfectly, that the movie just made it seem like .. oh .. more? Eh .. and now they’re making another film out of it.
I would hate to see Skins tarnished by a mediocre movie, or a confused audience who just can’t keep up, or an audience who just goes “been there done that ..”. I can see where it would help tie up loose ends .. but loose ends keep things alive. You want to make people always want more .. Seinfeld did just that. Everyone still wants more, and it’s been 10 years since it ended.
It could be done, but I highly done that it could be done well. What I love about skins is the complexity of the characters and seeing them develop over the series, but to do that with a multitude of characters in a movie would be really difficult to do as well unless the movie was 10 hours long (and judging by the genre of movie, I don’t think a skins movie could go past 120 minutes, and that’s pushing it..). i think skins is best suited to a TV series anyways BECAUSE of it being split up over a few weeks. Some things are not made for the big screen, and that doesn’t mean that Skins isn’t good enough, it’s just that the intimacy of it as a TV series is really special, and it would lose that in theatres

i think that a skins movie isn’t that good of an idea.
skins is great. & everyone will have really high expectations of a skins movie, which it’s probably won’t meet, need i remind anyone of the sex & the city movie which,at first,i thought was ok but then i wacted some re-runs of the programes (as am only 14 & so not old enought to have wacthed them the first time round) i realised that the movie is rubbish compared to the real thing. & i think that the same would happen with a skins film.
& plus, as i have watched skins form the start,(from when series 1 started) i would find it ever so annoying to have people jumping on yet another bandwagon esp. over something that probably won’t meet the people already watching skins ’s expectations (which i have already stated)

yes! it should be that cassie comes back and (she’s still a messed up character), and worst of al… WITHOUT SID. tony hasnt heard from sid, and cassie doesnt know that sid followed her to NY,and then her and JJ start goin out, then BANG sid arrives back from new york.
meanwhile, effy is still in love with freddie, cooke has moved on (thank GOD). katy gets pregnant (whos the father?), emily gets kicked out from home because she tells her parents about naomi and her, and panda is just… panda
Chelle and jal should have a bigger part in the movie too though, i do like them!

As much as I would love to see a full length movie of skins, especially focusing on the story between Naimoi and Emily, I just know it wouldn’t work. Skins belongs as a TV show and to take it to the big screen would just ruin it. Sorry guys but it just shouldn’t happen, it would ruin the TV show, its just not a concept that you can use in a film, they should lengthen the series or episode length to at least 1 hour not including breaks or something. I really can’t wait for series 4!!!
the movie should be on the characters from series 1 and 2 to “tie up the loose ends”; and series 4 should just continue with the charcaters from series 3 (no more love triangle!!).
It’d be great to have a Skins movie, but only if it’s like the tv series. I mean, it has to be in Bristol, with the same actors as the tv series. It would be great to have both gangs in it. Like a story where both worlds collide. It’d be amazing.

the series 3 cast were fairly inadequate for a tv show, let alone a film.
It would be great for a skins movie if all the cast from
season1,2 and season3 2 all come together and its
summer so the old cast come back for holidays and they all meet each other

I didn’t bother reading every single comment so this might have been said, but I think it should be about both generations at once, maybe focusing on the new generation, but still tying up loose ends from the old generation

I think it would be a great movie, but it continued for the first two seasons or more a fusion of these three and their continuation…

i think you should make the 4th series first about the 2nd gen then u should make a movie tying to the 2 generations together and maybe introduce some new charecters in the movie we need to find out more about cook why he is like the way he is and what happened to cassie i think also u should make a relationship between mechel (cant spell) and jj cousins?

i think that its a SUPER FANTASTIC IDEA!!!!!! i love skins! and the 1st and 2nd cast should defs come together!!!!! (aww no chris though :’( ) but don’t don’t don’t don’t don’t make it a hollywood production. skins is as amazing as it is because it is NOT hollywood… its real kids in the real world, who are all great for their talent, not cause of their money and reputation. MAKE A MOVIE!!! i will watch it thousands of times!!

I personally do not think there should be any hollywood characters, except for Dev Patel obviously. It should feature a mix of the series one/two cast and the series three cast. What a lot of people want, including myself, is some closure with Sid and Cassie. What happend? Also, I’d love to see how Jal is doing. Chris is gone, obviously, but maybe he could be featured in a few unseen flashbacks or something? He’s too good of a character to let go.

Yes i very much think that there should be a skins movie. I deffinatly think that they should bring back the gang from season 1 and 2….They could do alot with that. Life after college, or maybe even 10 years into the future or something….Like do michelle and Tony get married, or something like that. You guys are absolutly incredible to come up with a show like skins and i am in absolute ‘ore’ of you. I know your incredible enough to come up with one of the best movies ever so please please please do…

I think that if they were to make a movie then they should make a whole new bunch of character just for the movie and keep their story within the movie too. It’s be like one whole series but in one whole film. It could focus more on the Skins spirit and attitude more than the characters from the show.
And about the series 2 stuff being tied up? I disagree. I think those “loose ends” were artistically placed and should never be answered until like 10 years from now.

what i absolutely love about skins is that the characters & situations are believable, the way they look after a night out is believable and they all have little quirks about them which is really nice. if it went all clean cut and american it would be utter crap & nobody would want to see it.

the next generation could be subtly introduced at the end as a wee kinda cliff hanger type thing. maybe even have a voice narrating the film and then at the end we find out that its a character from the next generation that is closely linked to someone in any of the before series’ but we only see a tiny glimpse of them then the film ends there and we dont find out who they are or why they are there until the next series of skins.

This movie should so be made, but i would love to see series one and two characters meet the new cast, maybe this is the plan for the future skins, just the thought of cook, meeting tony, sid etc would be a delight ! if they make a movie using unknown characters, it’s just not skins, no one will see it as skins as people already know the characters. i would like to see the movie anyway, just the concept of big names actors and actresses having a skins party is amazing. And there is no one in the world who can fill the character as cook, Jack O’connel plays this role perfect, very talented young actor and he is going along way.
i would like to know the date of when the series 4 of skins is coming out ??

depends how u look at it, series 1 and 2 were generally, sad, comically bleak and tragic on the other hand series 3 were much more black comedy than tradgey and saddness.
So if you want the movie to be tragic, humerous but sad, use the series 1 and 2 cast
if u want it to be pure black comedy with alot of humour, use the series 3 and 4 cast

Whether you use series 1, 2, or 3 cast it doesn’t matter. Using Hollywood stars would ruin it. I think all the cast should mingle with in the movie. Please make a movie and make sure it releases in America.
After season 4 finishes. This film would be awesome. Love to see the generations class. Heres some ideas: Obviously the film just has to be based on the stonem family. Maybe now that Tony is old enough the parents can have left and Tony owns the house with Effy living there. Tone has no parents to make him laugh so he goes about making interesting happenings with others of the town and tries to control the whole night scene. Lots of parties at the stonem place. Both Crews Invited. Meanwhile Effy is worried Tony isnt as in control as he thinks so visits Sid now living with Cassie. Throughout the film Katie is trying to seduce Tony which Effy is not happy about and consequently falls out with Emily about her arguments with katie (if that makes sense) So there is an isolated Effy who only fits in with the older crew or the lads. JJ and Thomas and Panda and Jal get mixed up in a love qquadrangle. The main story is Cooks fighting with Tony. Cook wants to be the dominant one but obviously Tony is having none of that. Sid and Freddie work together to stop chaos but eventually it all breaks out when Maxxie comes back dancing. Anwar comes too and eventually Michelle is the one who finally gets Tony to break it off. However by this time no one cares that Cook is in charge.
I dunno i got a bit lost there. Started a novel. Few good ideas few bad. Either way i want a Skins movie. Just because i cant get enough of it!!!

Yesssssssssssssssssss a skins movie would be great, especially as like everyone else has said it will tie up all the loose ends! Definitely think the series 1 and 2 cast should be used as it wasn’t constantly humour etc, you could feel sympathy for them and that made the show seem more realistic! Also, the acting was altogether better in the first 2 series and of course everyone wants to know is Sid and Cassie found each other! Would be a bit of a pain though as Chris wouldn’t be able to be in it

i just watched all of series 1 and 2 in two days and I’m wholly enthralled. I was soooo pissed that Chris died. they should have killed off maxie ar anwar….anyway…i am reluctant to watch series 3 and 4 because i don’t think it will be the same and from the sound of others’ posts, it seems like it’s not…i was never too enthused with effy during the first two series, so following her into series 3 doesn’t really appeal to me…..However, a movie would be a great way to get people like me interested in the current and future generations….I’m an American and so I’m used to the typical happy ending and wasn’t exactly sure what to do with myself at the end of series two….since I’m still looking for a happy ending, I was thinking that the movie could show that after a couple of years and a few more failed relationships, sid and cassie finally find each other in New York and surprise Cassie has a two-year-old son named Chris…at first, we aren’t sure if Cassie and Chris were closer than originally thought or if her son is named after a dear friend who died in her arms….either way, it doesn’t matter to Sid…he never stopped loving her and can forgive her anything as she’s always forgiven him….Sid and Cassie return to Bristol to marry and raise little Chris together….evryone returns for the wedding and Effy’s crew is introduced as she will play a pivitol role in the wedding as Cassie’s maid of honor (since Effy’s actions were essential in getting Sid and Cassie back together in series 2)…Tony and Michelle return with their significant others, but their connection to each other jeopardizes their current relationships….Going back, maybe Maxxie is in New York on tour or something and is staying with sid while there….then he runs into Cassie after one of his shows….he tells her sid has been in new york looking for her…she is reluctant to see him because no one knows about little Chris…Maxxie returns to London when the tour finishes….He and Anwar are still roomates…Anwar is a successful entrepaneur in pursuit of thelove of a die-hard catholic girl…he is trying to help her overcome close-mindedness similar to that which he once suffered….No one has seen Jal since the night of the funeral, but she’s vaguely kept in touch…her start to university was delayed a semester because she never really had an abortion…instead she kept a little piece of Chris and gave birth to a baby girl named Miles (Chris’s last name). She gave the baby up for private and anonymous adoption and began university…she is nearly finished but is struggling to pass due to depression….when news of sid and cassie’s marriage reaches her, Jal is in desparate need of a reunion…with her friends and the love of her life…upon meeting little Chris, Jal is at first angry, then forgiving, and finally releived when everyone learns that little Chris is Sid’s son….But Jal also realizes that she wants her daughter back…luckily, it turns out that Jal’s mother had the foresight to know her daughter would be unable to deal with the trauma of abandoning her child and so she arranged to adopt her own granddaughter and when Jal and the gang go looking for Miles, not only is Jal reunitedwith her daughter, but also with her mother….I don’t know….maybe I’ve been watching too many american soaps and this is all too unrealistic for the skins format…either way, i’d like a movie because i hate loose ends
You should deffinately keep the same actors/actresses from the series! And introduce NEW characters. Holding it some place else wouldnt be a bad idea either.. that could be part of the story line!
I think a movie is a good idea but i dont think it should be for a while yet i think they should let skins run its course and nearer the end maybe think about doin one =]
I think that the best movie for a skins movie would be very low budget with the 1/2 gen cast. I mean, they are tied together with Effy. Also, I think that they should leave skins at four series’ because it has gone downhill since the second generation began and I really don’t want to see it completely f*cked up because they ran out of original ideas. I think stop doing the series after 4, doing one low budget movie and leaving it at that would be perfect. I mean, if they did do another generation they would probably use Freddie’s little sister as one of the new generation. Just a guess. But come on though, they don’t want to turn it to a soap (I’m seriously anxious to see what happened to Sid and Cassie though)
Omg if they want to do a big budget film they could send all the cast to New York where Cassie is (and hopefully sid too). That would take care of the first generation but then Effy and Panda could go because they are worried about Tony and Freddie & JJ could go to see Effy with Cook and Katie and Emily and Naomi all tagging along for some reason (maybe they all go to have fun and party and because everyone else is going). It would be amazing
seriously?? there are no other actresses in the world who can play naomi other than lily loveless…. of course people would wanna see the actual actors who were casted on the actual series. maybe a bit of sid/cassie,,, tony/michelle,, naomi/emily,,, effy/cook/freddy,,, and some others…. but it would be really good if there’s a Skins the movie…. i really hope there is….
