Mitch Hewer’s (Maxxie) latest venture, Britannia High has been axed by ITV.
Britannia High has been axed after just one series.
ITV1 has decided to discontinue the musical drama, which failed to be a ratings success for the channel.
The show, which cost £2 million to produce, was created by Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips and Take That singer Gary Barlow.
"We thought Britannia High would be an all-singing, all-dancing success – especially having the top names in dance and music on board," a source told The Sun.
"Sadly, the stories of these youngsters vying for their dreams didn’t seem to capture viewers’ imagination.
"The credit crunch is affecting everything, not least TV. A second series of Britannia High was just not viable."
The programme opened to a disappointing 3.31 million viewers in October and later fell to a low of just 2.4 million in its third outing.

Throw in some darker themes…sex…drugs…nudity…actual drama…. and you have a show.
I watched the first three episodes hoping that it would get better, but it just kept getting more unoriginal and the characters were really shallow… seriously Mitch, I know you are a dancer, but that was a real step down from skins from the get go… best of luck in the future

Yes I agree, was quite cheesy, big shame for Mitch, he is better than this! I hope he finds something more suited to him.
However, go Dev Patel, recommend everyone go see Slumdog, really good movie!
I used to make sure I got home in time to watch Britannia High. Just the other sunday I was wondering when is coming back on. I miss it badly. I loved it. The only thing i would say about was that when any of the characters had a problem and they sang about there feelings it didn’t seem to work. I could see what you were trying to get across but it did work for some reason. But I still enjoyed it and I wish ITV1 will change there mind and bring it back, with the same characters.
well i loved it i thought it was origional
there is already all these shows about sex drugs and nudity well it was about time there was something different and this was it
im a performer my self and it was great to have a t.v series to relate to my own lifestyle
and as for mitch i thought it was brill to see him in another light and to see him actually doin some dancing

Ha ha, I only made it through the first episode. Just a rip off of Skins, High School Musical and Almost Famous done badly.

OMG I’ve been watching BH here in New Zealand… the show is awful!
I mean there’s shows like High School Musical which are bad but they make you like them, and they’re guilty pleasures.
And then there’s Britannia High which is just awful in every way, and despite how much you try, you just can’t enjoy it.
The songs are cheesy, the plot cliched, the script is the worst thing about it, some of the acting isn’t bad. And Mitch’s hair?! What the fuck happened there? Fire the stylist! And put her in prison!
And I mean, let’s be realistic: a black guy with gang ties would not have a gay best friend. Especially not a goody-good like Jez. It’s just not realistic.

I dont care about ratings i loved the show i thourgh mitch georgina sapphire rana matthew Marcquelle and not forgettin sophie were brilliant and they kept me glued to the scree throughout the entire series if one day i got the opportunity to star in somethign with one of these guy si would be honoured i also brought the brittania high series 1 DVD so i can watch it over and over i will never get tired of it and im really sad to hear that their won`t be another series but i am glad i have to DVDS so i can remeber the show at its best

britania high was amazing me and all of my friends would stay in and watch it and then spoke about it nearly all the time in school.
i really do hope they change their minds on this one.
Shame.. I absolutly Loved it!! I cudnt wait for a secind series
