Skins Series Three characters revealed

E4 has announced the new characters that will be introduced in the upcoming third season of its popular teen drama Skins, says Last Broadcast.
Tony Stonem’s younger sister Effy (Kaya Scodelario) and her best friend Pandora (Lisa Backwell) will be the only existing cast members to appear in the third series next year.

The new additions to the girls’ lineup are Katie and Emily, twins with contrasting personalities, and the idealistic Naomi.
The boys are comprised of the charismatic Cook (Jack O’Connell), skateboarding stoner Freddie, magician J.J., and Thomas, who struggles to settle in the UK after arriving from Congo.

Harry Enfield, Morwenna Banks and Geoffrey Hughes will return for guest appearances, along with new guest stars Scott Mills, Mackenzie Crook, Sally Phillips and James Fleet.

Skins returns to E4 for a ten-episode run in January.

Kaya Scodelario [Effy]

Johnny Testa from AskMen.com pointed me in the direction of this profile page of Kaya which is a lot more informative than her Wikipedia entry.

Amusingly the editor rates the 16 year old at 10 out of 10 for looks…

He says:

At barely 16, Kaya Scodelario still has a lot of growing up to do before she could be considered a sex symbol. That being said, she’s definitely heading down the right track to get there. For one thing, Kaya Scodelario is British but she comes from a Brazilian background.
The most promising sign of Kaya Scodelario’s future as a sex symbol comes from her work with Models 1, an agency that is considered the best in Europe for representing models. Some of Models 1’s clients have included Naomi Campbell, Paris Hilton, Cindy Crawford, and Claudia Schiffer. At the age of 14, Kaya Scodelario decided to pursue acting and she auditioned for Skins, the debut series for new channel E4. Amazingly, Kaya Scodelario won the role of Effy despite the fact that she had no other acting experience to speak of. Maybe it was a stroke of luck or a glimpse of raw natural talent, but either way, Kaya Scodelario was pleased to have the opportunity and joined the show in January 1997.

After an inauspicious debut in which she had no lines, Kaya Scodelario’s role of Effy proved to be quite a test. At the forefront of many disasters, including stalkers, death and sexual pressures, Effy became a fan favorite for her ability to somehow resolve testing life situations while keeping her head above water. As the role became more challenging, Kaya Scodelario came to like it even more since she likened Effy’s difficulties and loss of friends to real life.
After two seasons of Skins, the series endured an overhaul at the end of 2007. Feeling that most of the characters had run their course, every character was written out of the series except for Effy. This was a significant change because it meant that Kaya Scodelario would be the most recognizable face for season three.

As Kaya Scodelario waited for the new season of Skins to begin, she has taken advantage of her recent clout to seek out additional career opportunities. She joined the elite agency Models 1 and soon had a photo-op as the cover model for SUPERSUPER Magazine.
Kaya Scodelario may be fostering her modeling career, but she is also making her feature film debut with a role in the 2009 film Moon. It stars Sam Rockwell as an astronaut suffering from surreal encounters while on the lunar planet. With Mars filming underway and her successful TV series to fall back on, Kaya Scodelario definitely won’t run out of things to do.

What is it about Effy (Kaya Scodelario)? The mystery girl has had a lot to deal with. The Stonem family home is in disarray: while Dad (Harry Enfield) is working abroad, Mum (Morwenna Banks)is also away, with the fairies, and Tony (Nicholas Hoult) is moping after Michelle (April Pearson). On top of this, Effy has her GCSE art coursework deadline looming. So solving all her family’s problems, planning her academic future, as well as sorting out the’Tony and Michelle’, ‘Sid and Cassie’ dilemma is all she needs right now. And then on top of this, whilst also trying to maintain her reputation for being the wildest kid on the block, she\’s lumbered with the new girl, spoddy Pandora (Lisa Backwell). So how weird when suddenly Pandora turns out to be best friend material. Maybe the future’s bright afterall - well, Effy and Pandora’s future anyway. Also guest starring Bob Crampton as himself and Jan Ravens.
