Kaya Scodelario [Effy] off to the Moon

Kaya, who plays Effy (Tony’s sister) will be joining an all star cast in a film called ‘Moon’.

Here is the synopsis of the film from IMDB:

Sam Bell (Sam Rockwell) is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He’s been a faithful employee for 3 long years. His home has been Selene, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium 3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth’s energy crisis.

Isolated, determined and steadfast, Sam has followed the rulebook obediently and his time on the moon has been enlightening, but uneventful. The solitude has given him time to reflect on the mistakes of his past and work on his raging temper. He does his job mechanically, and spends most of his available time dreaming of his imminent return to Earth, to his wife, young daughter and an early retirement.

But 2 weeks shy of his departure from Selene, Sam starts seeing things, hearing things and feeling strange. And when a routine extraction goes horribly wrong, he discovers that Lunar have their own plans for replacing him and the new recruit is eerily familiar.
Before he can return to Earth, Sam has to confront himself and the discovery that the life he has created, may not be his own. It’s more than his contract that is set to expire.

Joe Dempsie in The Damned United

The casting has been announced for footie flick Damned United, and we’re excited that a fair few heat favourites will soon be getting into their kit. It’s the new film from Peter Morgan, the writer of The Queen, and will once again star chameleon-like actor Michael Sheen, this time as legendary 70s football manager Brian Clough (ask your dad). The Leeds United players include Scottish cutie Martin Compston, who was brilliant in Sweet Sixteen, and Joe Dempsie, ie tragic Chris from Skins. Stephen Graham, who was fantastic in This Is England, will play team captain Billy Bremner, and Peter McDonald, who’ve been rooting to make it big ever since I Went Down, is another Leeds player. The Damned United tells the story of Clough’s doomed 44-day tenure as manager of Leeds, who were then the biggest club in the English football league. Let’s hope there are plenty of scenes set in the changing rooms.

Joe will be playing footballer Duncan Mackenzie.

Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Sketch) will be appearing in a new theater play call Sh*t M*x at Trafalgar Studios.

Raggedy Ann is gagging to go out with LB, but he has a few guilty secrets. Dirty Debbie isn’t really helping matters, all she’s concerned about is finishing her first erotic novel. Maybe Bent Ben will find out what’s wrong, although he hasn’t been out much since Beyonce’s new film came out on DVD. And will anyone catch the eye of the elusive Harry the Hottie? Welcome to being 17; Unrequited love, aspiration, desperation, experimentation and sexuality.
In a world where love is replaced with violence, maybe friendship is the most important thing…

Skins’ Creator Elsley Turns to Junior Drama

Source: The Guardian

The creator of the hit E4 teen drama Skins has revealed he is working on a new project based on the lives of younger children.

Brian Elsley told an audience at the Edinburgh TV festival yesterday that the new series – which he said was "at the commissioning stage" – would be set around the lives of a group of 10- to 15-year-olds.

He would not go into more details, but told MediaGuardian.co.uk later that it would be "nothing like Grange Hill".

Elsley has become hot property since Skins became a hit for E4. The drama charts the emotionally charged lives of a group of teenagers in Bristol.

Skins has been criticised for its unashamed portrayal of their hedonistic lives, but its authenticity has won it a huge following among young viewers.

"I don’t think Skins broke any ground in terms its target audience," Elsley told the audience in Edinburgh. "Whatever kids tell their parents is a lie. Kids party all the time."

However, he said that young people thought harder about sex and relationships than adults give them credit for – and he attributed the success of Skins to its realistic portrayal of the complexity of teenage emotions.

At the session in Edinburgh, Elsley went on to say that much of British TV drama lacked depth. "There’s not enough meaning in television drama," Elsley told the audience.

He said later that the squeeze in television commissioning budgets had led to a serious problem in TV drama. "It’s a complex problem", he added, citing the fragmentation of the TV audience, the economic climate, and a consequent lack of bravery among TV executives.

Elsley praised the marketing department at Channel 4 for its imagination in promoting Skins.

The campaign focused on the show’s party element and in one instance fell foul of the Advertising Standards Authority. But the campaign won plaudits, taking the gong for best advertising campaign at this year’s inaugural MediaGuardian Innovation Awards.

Elsley also said much of the show’s impact came from its interactive elements, which involve the audience through an extensive website, which allows viewers to share ideas, find out about casting sessions and submit music to the show.

Cool.

Scott Mills in Skins :D

The fantastic, hilarious, brilliant and wonderfully camp Radio One DJ, Scott Mills, has got a part in Skins which he is filming today along with the two winners who won the last open audition through the Skins Life website.

Scott is playing himself much to his disappointment. Lol.

He is also playing a policeman in tonight’s (18/08/2008) Hollyoaks as well.
