Skins Audition Script

So yeah I can’t believe it either but I’ve just tidied my bedroom off my own back. Yeah that’s right, Mother didn’t ask me to. I’m actually that bored now that I’ve finished school for good that I’m resorting to this low, low level.

However I did manage to find the script that the auditionees used at the London Skins Party auditions from Toby’s camera bag.

Skins III – Freddie

Int. Skate Shop. Day

FREDDIE, (16), a gangling, shy, stoned boy with hair covering his face is browsing, looking at the different boards. He looks carefully at the garish designs.

A COOL SHOP ASSISTANT appears at his shoulder.

FREDDIE looks at BOARD with a huge, colourful VOLCOM logo on it.

COOL SHOP ASSISTANT -  That one’s the bollocks, mate. The bollocks. You a boarder?

FREDDIE – Yeah. No. Yeah.. No. No. (pause). Yeah.

COOL SHOP ASSISTANT – I cant tell you’re a boarder. This is the one for you.

He thrusts the BOARD into FREDDIE’s arms. FREDDIE looks at it doubtfully.

FREDDIE – Yeah, um. The thing is… er, is there, is there like, one, with… one with… one that doesn’t look like complete shit?

COOL SHOP ASSISTANT is flabbergasted.

FREDDIE (cont’d) – Yeah I think I want one that doesn’t look like complete shit.

(pause)

FREDDIE (cont’d) – Actually, is there one that doesn’t have any logos of designs or patterns or anything really, really rubbish on it?

COOL SHOP ASSISTANT (horrified) – A blank one? With no logos?

FREDDIE – Yeah, i think I sort of want to just ride it.. not, you know, look at it. And stuff.

COOL SHOP ASSISTANT – No. There are no blank ones.

FREDDIE – Oh right. Cool. Ok. Um. Can you, sort of… like… not be here anymore?

The COOL SHOP ASSISTANT is too confused to move.

FREDDIE (cont’d) – Yeah. Cause I think I think you’re a wanker and I don’t want to talk to you anymore.

FREDDIE smiles sweetly. The COOL SHOP ASSISTANT walks away.

FREDDIE looks at the BOARD again and starts softly humming the ‘Blackadder’ theme tune to himself.

Another Chance to be in Skins!

From Skinslife.com:

——————————————-

We know there are lots of you out there who were very disappointed not to make it into the new cast. We really don’t like upsetting people, so here is our little plan…

You all know that Skins shoots a lot of party scenes and our question is; would you like to be in one?

We are filming the first big rave scenes of series 3 very soon and we want to have some of you there to be part of it.

All you need to do is post a photograph of yourself in the box below, tell us you age and the town/city you live nearest to (please don’t put you full address!) and remember to let us know if you have auditioned for us before…

Right then – let’s see what happens!

Mike and Aimee on The Sunday Night Project

Jamie Writes:

w00t Jamie (Brittain – one of the creators of Skins) just updated his blog:

Hello all.

Sorry it has been so long since I last updated, I’ve been alternately busy and lazy and that’s why. As I type, filming on Skins will begin in about four hours (although they did shoot a scene last week for some reason). Last week was spent in Bristol fine tuning my script for series 3, episode 2 following the readthrough. The readthrough was thought by some of those attending to have been one of the best anyone has ever seen, and while I’m not sure of that, there were certainly plenty of laughs. I couldn’t be more pleased with the actor I have got for my episode, for a character I originated. He’s nothing like I imagined he would be; he’s much, much better.

My script is something I’m dead chuffed with – I think it’s the best out of the three I’ve written. The script I wrote last year (Tony) I was very happy with, but it was quite strange and difficult. This one is much more fun, much more energetic, much more classic Skins. I’ve got a great guest actor in it too, though I can’t say who it is yet, nor can I think of a good clue that wouldn’t give him away. Er. He played a beloved character in a sitcom a few years ago. That’ll do till I think of something better.

The other scripts are in good shape too – we’ve got some really good young writers working with us this year. Returning is Daniel Kaluuya, writing ep 3, Ben Schiffer, writing ep 5 and ep 10, Lucy Kirkwood, writing 7, I think. New people are Georgia Lester and Athia Sen Gupta, both only 19 (!) writing 4 and 6 respectively. The great Robin Ince is doing one, and fresh from Shameless, is the lovely Malcolm who completes the writing team along with me Daddy, B Elsley. Josie Long is still helping out, and also the terribly nice and terribly funny Isy Suttie, last seen playing Dobby on Peep Show, is along for the ride.
I got to meet some cool people at the Skins party in London, which was great fun. I can’t remember their names, but the very nice dudes who run Skinsnation and Skinsis interviewed me whilst I was pretty drunk. I’m eager to see what I said – and if I gave anything away that I shouldn’t!
I finally got to meet most, but not all, of the new cast, who are all really nice people, in keeping with Skins hiring policy of only lovelies being allowed. A couple of them had exams so couldn’t be there, but I’m sure I’ll get to meet them soon.

I’m having a break now. I’ll still attend the writers meetings, but my big job for this year is over. I’ll try and update the blog a bit more than I have done recently. I’m about to start work writing for a show at the beeb, then after that another thing with Company that is very exciting – more later.
Oh, and I’ll be on the skinslife website this week taking questions. If you’ve got anything to ask me, head over to skinslife.com and post away.

MGS4 rules.

Jx.

If you see me at Glastonbury, say hello.

Mitch Hewer Moving On

So when I interviewed Mitch back in April he told me that he was moving from Bristol up north to work on a "top secret" ITV project.

Naturally he wouldn’t tell me what it was and despite several emails exchanged with my guesses…

To: Mitch Hewer

From: Alex Bilbie

Hiya Mitch,

I think I guessed what your 2 year placement in Manchester with ITV could be about? It’s not Coronation Street is it?
Don’t worry I won’t leak anything because I don’t want a cease and desist letter from ITV’s lawyers.
Anyway, hope you had a good night?
Cheers,
Alex

…but now Gay Spy has revealed all:

Brace yourselves for a shock… actually, it might be wise to pop that cup of tea down… right, are you sitting comfortably? OK, we’ll tell you now… the lad on the left is Mitch Hewer. Mitch Hewer from Skins. Yup, that Mitch Hewer. He’s gone curly for his role in ITV1’s new musical drama Britannia High, due later this year.

Who’s that boy?

Brace yourselves for a shock… actually, it might be wise to pop that cup of tea down… right, are you sitting comfortably? OK, we’ll tell you now… the lad on the left is Mitch Hewer. Mitch Hewer from Skins. Yup, that Mitch Hewer. He’s gone curly for his role in ITV1’s new musical drama Britannia High, due later this year.

Is it a wig? Is it his real hair? We don’t know, but we’d be extremely grateful if someone could enlighten us.

You know, maybe it’s going to take time to get used to. Perhaps the curls will look less spaghetti-like when we see them bouncing around on screen. And, let’s be honest, we won’t care what Mitch’s hair looks like during his inevitable shirtless scenes.

Anyway, what do you think of Mitch’s new look? Cute or eww?

Hannah Murray On Graduating from Skins

Heres another snippet of her talking about Skins
Skins came about at a time when I was doing my last years at school so in a way it felt like another version of sixth form. I was in my second year of A-levels while I was filming series one. It was like another last stage before you go off into the big adult world. I met a massive number of people who are really important to me now and I learnt so much. I’m definitely a lot more independent having done it.
