Teenager’s grand design for magazine photoshoot

A YOUNG Bolton designer has dressed the cast of teenage TV drama Skins for a magazine photoshoot.

Vanessa Edwards beat thousands of hopefuls to win an E4 competition for the fashion photoshoot in More magazine.

The 19-year-old, of Cranbourne Close, Lostock, is studying fashion design with marketing, manufacture and promotion at Huddersfield University.

She said: “I saw the advert for the competition and because I was studying fashion I thought I would be able to do it, but I was absolutely amazed I had won because I didn’t think I would in a million years.”

Miss Edwards based her designs around the Skins character of Cassie and used a “vintage” theme.

She was due to attend the launch party of Skins in January, but gale-force winds made the journey to London impossible. The undergraduate did make it to the photoshoot where she met the cast of Skins and saw her ideas take shape.

Miss Edwards said: “It was amazing to see how they had used my sketch book for their inspiration.”

As well as being able to style the photoshoot, Miss Edwards won a work placement with Channel 4 and £500 worth of Top Shop vouchers.

She said: “I would love to work on a fashion magazine and this has been an amazing opportunity.”

Skins is a teen drama about the trials and tribulations of a group of youths.

Mike Bailey to judge "Drama Festival" at Melksham school

PUPILS at The George Ward School had a celebrity panel of judges for their annual drama competition this year.

Mike Bailey, who plays Sid in the E4 programme Skins, Bristol-based singer/songwriter Ben Pearce and Wiltshire performer Alison Sommers, formed the panel for this year’s competition.

Ruth Cook, head of drama, said: “We have really gone to town with the competition this year and have hired in lighting and sound equipment as well as a technician and sold tickets for it.

“Mike and Ben were both former pupils of mine when I taught at Downend School near Bristol so I thought it would be good to get some external judges in.

“All the kids lined up outside so they could see Mike arrive – I cried when I saw him he’s come such a long way.

“They were all very excited because they watch the show and they asked him what happens in the next series.

“He really enjoyed himself too and was very impressed with the acting.”

On Monday night, pupils from Year 7 competed against each other and 7KAG won with their production A Regular School Day’ where the geeks’ overthrow the plastic girls’.

Last night’s competition saw pupils from Year 8 battle it out, with 8GJL winning with their production about how they were going to win the contest by sabotaging the other groups.

The judges particularly praised Jack Simpson’s narration too.

Tonight, pupils from Year 9 will compete and tomorrow will see the A Level drama exams get under way.

The pupils were judged out of 30 for their originality, standard of acting, difficulty, technique and style, clarity of meaning and timing.

Nick Hoult Mum fine about role in Skins

NICHOLAS HOULT, star of in E4’s controversial drama Skins, worried about his mum’s reactions to the show’s sex scenes.

The show has just been recommissioned for a second series.

Nicholas told Attitude magazine: “They showed us the scenes afterwards and said, ‘You don’t see anything really bad.’”

“I’m not going to sit around with my whole family watching it, going, ‘Here I am, look mum, are you proud of me?’”

“I was quite worried what my mum’s reception to it might be because she’s an older lady, and I just wondered what she thought of it – she really liked it and she was laughing as much as me.”

It’s A Wild World

Who loved the finale last night i did, it was frickin brill, best episode of the series.
is Tony dead? who knows kind felt sorry for him last night. well now it’s over, production is starting on series two, question what are we going to do to fill our thursday night with out no Skins Fix? so to his a little tid bit for us to reminise about
